I recently created a new Minecraft account and also logged in to the launcher. Of course all my versions that I had installed were gone, after all I had them on my old account.
But I thought I could just add Forge (and OptiFine) back to installations under New… Yes, add new. However, these two were no longer available. At first I thought nothing of it, since I actually needed Forge for 1.15.2 at the time, and I just downloaded it for 1.15.2, the missing Forge would have been for 1.12.2.
Now I definitely need Forge 1.12.2 because of a server project! I have already searched all the folders, everything is like my old account, nothing has changed with .minecraft. Nevertheless, it must be due to the account change, since it worked before.
You know how I get Forge 1.12.2 in there, everything is downloaded after all, I've already played with it on my old account…
Do I have to reinstall the MC Launcher or what?
I'm a bit perplexed…

PS: Write as answer: switch back to the old account is also possible
Can't be, add new accounts every day and all versions are still there.
I used to do it that way.
Everything deleted and reinstalled as well as the folders.
And did that work?
Maybe you can take the version from the versions folder instead of the selection. There's namely forge inside but it is shown there.
Go on the Internet and download Forge
I have often, more precisely, tried this all afternoon…
But the 1.12.2 forge goes like that, the others do.
Maybe just reinstall everything, delete all folders and data and reinstall MC or something like that, luckily I haven't played that much anyway, the account is new.
If Forge is there as a folder, you're either not looking closely enough (overlook the version) or it's a corrupt installation
Forge is not included in the installations, download is from the official forge website
