Respawn anchor not working?

I play minecraft 1.16 on the switch and am very often in the nether, so I logically created a respawn anchor. I loaded it with Glowstone and everything, but it doesn't work. I always wake up at my bed. Do I have to place it a certain distance from the portal. If I put it in creative mode beforehand it works, but not in survival mode.

Do you use Glowstone dust or Glowstone blocks?
