I have a problem, which many probably have: I feel addicted to Minecraft on the computer and my cell phone.
I think I would still be able to control myself when the going gets tough, but I tell myself that it's not that bad yet. I have the following signs:
- Override my parents' prohibitions
- Play 6 hours a day during the holidays
- Play 7 days a week
-Directly bored when I'm not on the phone
However, my academic achievements are still top.
In the past, I had a rule of self-control: whenever I thought I was about to become addicted, I completely stopped using the media for a day, after which I was cured of my "short-term addiction". Now, however, I always think of excuses from why I just can't get by without a media day.
Maybe someone can also give tips as a bonus on what I could do if I'm not in the media at all?
Thank you for everything, a 14 year old girl in gratitude
Your situation worries me a lot. Talk to someone you trust in your area (e.g. Your parents, friends, etc.)
You can also speak to the counseling service at any time (anonymously, free of charge and available 24 hours a day) on 0800 111 0 111.
In an emergency, you can always contact the emergency services on 112 or the police on 110.
Best wishes and greetings!
Maybe you should better discuss this with a doctor. There are only a few people here who have a medical education.
I would also say of myself that I'm even very addicted to games and yt / twitch, but I don't find it bad as long as school or work or whatever goes well. In the end it is a hobby like any other, you can also be addicted to sports, only that is better regarded in our society…
I think it's very dangerous, but my school performance is still very good, that is.
Thank you very much
So if you want to actively distract yourself, this is the perfect time, the streets are empty because the shops are closed and the weather is getting better. So nothing stands in the way of walks.
Cold deprivation is an option by giving your power cord from the computer to friends who are supposed to keep it with you so that you can't access it.
However, I have to say that in the course of the Corona Hole I also hang around in the media all day long if I don't even go for a walk or do the necessary errands.
Then tell me what you find dangerous about it? I would say that I'm among the happiest 10% of people in the world, despite my strong and mainly even through my strong addiction. I'm good at school too. Ultimately, whether you are addicted to another hobby or to media is the same.
You may be right, it's only since I've stopped coming out because of Corona that I've been so strong.
I have never been as addicted to anything as I do media, which is simply a special dependency I find.
I can understand your problem well since I have been in this situation many times. If it is just a certain game that you play so often, then do without the game for a few days and not all media, so you will hold out longer and will not feel uncomfortable so quickly.
It is currently difficult to find good activities because the requirements for the coronavirus severely restrict leisure activities.
Possible activities:
- Arrange with friends
-Cooking baking
-Sports
- Solve crosswords as soon as you feel the urge to play again
-Information on topics on the Internet
-Read newspaper
-To write a diary
-Bathing / swimming
I hope I could help you.
If you have any questions, you can write to me.
Neither do I, I'm playing about 2-3 times as long as you currently.
You can hardly do anything other than walking.
Gyms, bars, pubs, cafes and from tomorrow also hardware stores etc. Everyone closed.
But maybe there will be power cuts or something similar soon, then you will be forced to quit.
Otherwise I would set the goal after the Corona thing to reduce media consumption to longer.
Thank you very much, because of Corona, only a few of your options will remain…
What is dangerous about gaming? Play every day for 4-9 hours (in corona time) for 7 years without any changes.
Isso, it's just not that popular in society. Gambling probably has more advantages than any other hobby, especially my concentration has increased extremely, which also gives me advantages at school. And we don't even have to speak of English etc.
That really gives me food for thought… However, I can feel how I get tension in the neck, for example, and these typical, square eyes ". It doesn't feel healthy at all.
Well, it's like a marathon, taking a break, running around the block 😂, and going on
My eyes are very very above average (I did a vision test a few months ago). I can distinguish colors extremely well, my reflexes on the eyes are almost the best he has ever seen.
