I have a Fritzbox and wanted for my homeserver connected to a Fritz repeater the MC ports share. So I have at port udp and tcp for my server 25565 registered and auhh made sure that it is the right one. When I asked my friend shortly afterwards to join the server there was java.timeout which means that the server is not reachable via this port. But I could join it. As far as I know Debian 8 has no kind of firewall so that it can't lie… Could. You.

Make sure you've unlocked the ports on the router, not the repeater.

Also, make sure that you use public IP, not private IP, to reach the server.

Dr

Your friend must also use your public IP address.
Minecraft only needs TCP, not UDP.
By default, the Debian firewall is not active or just blocks nothing

I give you the letter and seal that it really is s. Dual Stack… This is basically only on dslite vodafon / cable. If you want more, you have to tell them that and talk on the phone afterwards.

OK and where do I know the public IP?

You also need to set up a port forwarding. That the requests to the port are also forwarded to the correct internal IP.

Ok, I have everything right and have the port forwarding also enabled… What now? It still does not work. Should I restart the router or something?

ma

Run a "tracert" request and see where it gets stuck.

Yes, this is done automatically… When I open the port 25565 for a specific device, it will automatically be forwarded there
