I plan to get a Rasberry Pi 4 with 8Gb Ram to host a small Minecraft server for me and my friends there.
(I'm aware that I have to wait for 64bit to be able to use the 8gb)
We're always less than 10 players in total, will that be enough for a smooth gaming experience, and do I have to pay attention to anything else?
Would be a 1.16.5 Java server
(I don't have to secure my network properly, I only give the IP to friends.)
I can say from my own experience that it works, but very slowly.
I only tried it for fun, but you can tell with only 4 people that it is simply not made for it (delays in building blocks, etc.)
In summary: it works, but not well
Only more RAM does not help, the CPU has to be good (the one from the RPi is not that good).
Whether it will be a smooth experience depends on factors such as the map, whether mods / plugins are installed and whether any large Redstone machines are active sb.
Okay thanks
I don't plan to install mods or plugins, the map is a normal survival world, just a bit built up. What would you say?
