I wanted to rent a Vserver so that I can set up a Minecraft server there (bungee cord). Now I have found 2 providers that offer relatively cheap VServer. Should I go to Strato or Contabo?
In addition, 500Mbit / s or 600Mbit / s are enough right?
In itself it doesn't matter where you think you're in better hands…
I was with Strato for years and still have my webspace there…
I've never used Contabo myself, but their place of business is in Munich and that's where I lived (and I work in Munich every day).
You don't get any service anyway, because there are no manager servers… They just have to help set up the operating system…
And Strato helped me quite well back then…
But I rent the server myself at Hetzner.de, so the website and server are separate…
And the big game server, which I host myself, which is in my basement, costs a lot of electricity, but is cheaper than the server providers…
Minecraft is a resource pit!
V-servers pull the ball as soon as more than 5 players are on it at the same time. You are far better off with a ready-made Minecraft server.
You need a solid dedicated server (which you only have for yourself) with as much single-core performance as possible and a lot of RAM if the server is to be for many players.
You also have to somehow protect the server against hacking and DDoS, otherwise you won't get very far. Running the bungee and the actual Minecraft server on the same machine is a rather bad idea (and even completely pointless if there's only one Minecraft server).
