Which Minecraft PvP weapon is the best? (Ax, sword, hoe.)?

With some Minecraft Bedrock PvP servers you not only get swords, but often also an ax, a pickaxe etc. Often these items also have good enchantments such as burns and sharpness and thus do more damage than some swords.

However, I have the feeling that I do more kills with the sword than with such other weapons and wanted to ask if there might be a disadvantage with the hoe, ax, shovel that does not affect the damage (e.g. Knockback, combo or something)

Sword is good and ax. You do more damage with the ax, but the cooldown is slower. The sword is faster and does a little less damage.
