Is it still worth making a Minecraft server network?
It depends on whether you have good ideas, financial resources and the appropriate doctorate, then it is worthwhile, otherwise not economically.
No, hardly financially.
Pity
Has never been worth it…
what should be "worth it"
To have a good server you need
good range good concept something of your own
The receipts?
Revenue? Have you ever understood Eula?
Have read it several times.
There are enough players for that too
Cosmetic items and effects (e.g. Trails)
Server-wide rewards (e.g. That every player can fly for a minute)
Colored names
Etc…
Spend money. You are still making money.
The rewards must simply not cause any disadvantage for the other players. Rewards - and thus a reason to donate - are still available.
Well then good luck. You and your server…
Don't have any.
But good luck to the questioner, if he does one.
To get the whole reindeer, you need a server with a very, very, very many players.
People rarely donate.
So it's similar to mining Bitcoin, you need a lot of resources…
And it's hardly worth it…
I have no idea about cryptocurrency so I can't comment on it.
I run a small public server myself. At absolute top times, 6-7 people regularly played there.
Excluding the big donations from an absolute long-term player, I think I earned 50 euro. "That doesn't sound bad, but the server costs alone (without plugin purchases and such) are 5 times higher than this amount.
If you now have a large server with a large player base, you will certainly get more donations, but you also pay a lot more for the server.
So no, it will never really pay off in a legal way, you better look for a normal job, you will be paid much better.
Even with my small server there's at least 100 hours of work, and that's only because I have others to do the building.
