My parents don't want me to talk to strangers about Discord. What should I do?

When I was playing Minecraft the other day, I was talking about Discord to a stranger my age. Then my mother came into the room and said I should stop

I had a discussion with them and they said that these people might as well have a voice distortion and are something of a psychopath. I'm on a DC server admin, and the person I spoke to was also a team member. Anyway, I want to talk to people sometimes and just have fun.

What could I tell my parents now that I can talk to team members or other people again? There's also an admin (2nd admin) because my real life friends know very well. The 2nd admin doesn't know us in real life, but they do quite a lot with that in virtual reality.
So what should I do? Just let it sit on me or argue against it.
If I should argue against, what should I say that the sentence doesn't get worse?

Why do you reveal so much personal information about yourself? Your parents won't mind if you talk about "trivialities" on the internet.

Su

I don't give any data, my parents just say that I don't talk to them anymore because of vocal distortions and psysophates

Py

"Was I talking about Discord to a stranger my age?"

I can understand your parents, you still seem a little lacking in maturity.

pu

If your parents don't want you to use discord, you'll have to live with it

Su

You don't mind me using Discord, you just don't want me to talk to people

Su

I'm 16…

Py

That has nothing to do with the lack of maturity…

pu

It comes to the same thing.

Hmm, there's not much you can do about that. Your parents just want to protect you.

With things like that, think about the role of your parents: Would you allow your son to come into contact with strangers who are on a platform that you only know little or not at all and / or can see through?

If you can answer this question with "yes". Then ask yourself "why" you would allow it. Only you know what's so great about it and you have to argue "for it" accordingly.

However, if your answer is "no," then there aren't many pros out there.

Jchdvg is absolutely right. Make the platform "tasty" for your parents. Tell them why you use Discord and what it is. Then they will understand and understand Discord. Make many comparisons with other platforms that your parents may use (Skype, Whatsapp, …).

You have to tell them what the advantages of Discord are and that you know the people and say that Discord is the "Skype of the 'young' people".
