Is Fortnite still being hyped?

I don't think I have to explain to anyone how strong the hype about Fortnite was / is. Everyone knows the game or has at least heard of it once…

In my opinion, Fortnite is a typical game that was only made to be hyped: After all, it is important to collect "cool" skins and dances here so that you can show off to friends, etc. So I want to say that the The focus here is only very limited on the gameplay. As a result, Fortnite would be a typical game that is mega hyped for a short time, only to be "out" again afterwards. A keyword here would be Pokémon Go: At the beginning every second person felt bumped against a lantern in order not to lose sight of a rare Pokémon and every news broadcast reported about it. Today I haven't even heard the name "Pokèmon Go" for what feels like years.

Is it the same with Fortnite now? Because somehow it would be expected?! Nevertheless, I still hear a lot about the online shooter from time to time (but this could also be due to my private environment).

Or can it be that Fortnite is still relatively popular, but not nearly as strong as in the first 1 to 2 years? Because I don't think that a game like Fortnite is still not exhausted in the long term (which is so with the classics GTA5 and especially Minecraft. After all, Minecraft is already over 10 years old and remains consistently popular). Will it hit Fortnite like it did with Pokémon, or has it already happened? Or am I wrong and Fortnite is still totally in the hype and could have the same future as Minecraft or GT 5?

So would it still be worthwhile to play Fortnite mainly for the hype?

The game has by far fewer monthly players than Minecraft or GTAV. The game started a never-before-seen promomove, but screwed it up with stupid updates. If you go to Google Trends, you can see how much it has dropped and can no longer play on the same wavelength with Minecraft

I have a feeling that nobody takes Fortnite seriously anymore. Am I the only one who feels

No

I think Google Trends is a pretty good way of getting a number on hype. Since they don't publish their player numbers. Here is a link: https://trends.google.de/trends/explore?q=fortnite

Nope.

In fact, Minecraft is still less popular than Fortnite in Europe, according to Google Trends. But across the world, Minecraft is definitely higher in terms of popularity. ^^ See the blue markings in the first card https://trends.google.de/trends/explore?q=fortnite,minecraft

Fortnite really isn't taken seriously. The only ones who play are small children who are absolutely toxic or streamers. The community only consists of people who are toxic or under 11.

Of course, this does not apply to all ^^

I have to correct you. The players consist of pros, small children and these 11-17 year old Wannabepros who think they will be world champions.

Or so

The hype was huge. In my opinion, Epic Games screwed itself up by making the game more and more noob-friendly.

It all started with double-pump. Nobody really wanted to get it out and Epic did it anyway. But that was understandable because it was just too OP.

Then came the Mapchanges. These were actually quite good because there were simply more places but it bothered me personally that the legendary places like Greasy Grove, Moisty Mire or Anarchy Acres disappeared, especially since Greasy Grove could have simply been freed from the ice surface.

In Season 6 (I think) the zombies came into play at times. I'm sure 95% of the gaming community wanted the zombies out back then. There should have been an extra mode for this because you were just too disturbed by the characters in normal matches.

Then there were the planes, which at first were just way too OP. Any noob could get any good player on this white. It also took some time until these vehicles were nerfed (how to write it? XD).

Stretched was also removed… I thought that was a shame because basically nobody was harmed.

With Season 8, the shooting came into play. So even I (not a solid player anymore) managed to have more points than MrSavage after 3 rounds in the semifinals for qualifying for the World Cup. There were also big changes to the map which bothered me, because I just feel the old days of Fortnite.

With Season 9 the Combat Shotgun came into play. It took some getting used to, but I was sad that the normal pump was vaulted. It was later implemented back into the game, but it was inferior to the Combat Shotgun.

In Season 10 these robots came into play that were absolutely overpowered. Even the "OG-en" places like the Factory or Dusty Depot could no longer hold me and my friends. We all stopped playing this game pretty much at the beginning of the season, even though we had been playing for several hours almost every day up to this point.

At the start of Chapter 2 I took a quick look but with this map Fortnite, IN MY OPINION, is no longer Fortnite. That was my Fortnite time😔.

Of course, it wasn't just Epic Games to blame that the game kept getting worse. The players themselves got better and better.

In season 1-4, a rocket launcher or a guides missile was a 90% chance of victory. Today everyone simply builds a box and the rocket launcher is no longer as effective as it used to be.

What I'm saying is that fun elements in this game can't be used these days because the players just got better and know how to counter those things.
