So I'll try to explain…
suppose I'm a fan of a computer game, e.g. Minecraft
and now I would just like to bring out a series of trading cards, so if you like cards with your own design but still with images of skins, items, etc. - which, however, belong to Mojang. Are such images still licensed and do they have copyright? Because everyone actually knows the pictures.
EXAMPLE: chicken in minecraft
the design of the cards and the surrounding area would have been made by myself, but the picture of the chicken that would still be on it still belongs to mojang right?
Anyway, I'll just make a few different cards with e.g. Other animals, tools, etc., so that a small collection comes out that would primarily be for me, but if someone wants them I can send them, sell them or whatever.
means: I support the developers by putting out "fan articles" that they don't have there themselves yet - isn't that something positive in itself, isn't it?
would that be legal or am I violating any rights?
I could of course ask Mojang for permission first, but I don't think they would ever read this question, let alone answer…
So?
ATTENTION: THIS IS A FICTIVE EXAMPLE AND NONE OF IT WAS IMPLEMENTED!
(I have the prospect of something similar but would first want to know whether this is even possible before I start anything…)
It won't work without permission.
If you only do it for yourself, it is not critical, but as soon as you put it into circulation or even sell it, it becomes a licensing problem. You could do a licensing, but this is associated with various conditions and costs and will only work if the rights holder sees it as positive and the brand is beneficial.
If you bring out something that you don't have a license to earn money for, then it will probably happen very quickly that Microsoft's lawyers will penetrate you very hard in the but.
You need a permit for that. And yes, I think as a normal person you don't get permission so easily. This will probably not be a sentence, but a legal document with precise information on what you can and can't do.
This may only be worthwhile if you really want to do it professionally and start a company
Well but such a huge corporation will never read or answer a question, as I said, right?
Yes, if you turn to the right place.
A shame, well then I have to drop it… And if I just do it myself for fun, it's ok, isn't it?
They don't do that personally, but rather bots. Don't do anything rash
Well, a company should not be defivitively and money will probably not come into play if I read all of this here but if I e.g. Make a card for me, post it because I like it and then someone comes and says, hey, I think that's awesome, will I get one too? And then I'll just send him one without asking for anything. Something like that, nothing really business if you get what I'm talking about

Uploading it yourself could be a problem because, as I said, you don't have the license. But if Mojang were to accuse their own fans for posting a Minecraft chicken, they'd be pretty stupid. For them that would be free advertising.
If you ever give someone a card, don't argue against it or it wouldn't even be great to track. You are not really allowed to produce in moderation, whether for money or without.
In theory, you are allowed to take these cards but not marketed if it is in your circle of friends, it is legal
You can do things like that for yourself, yes.
Ne as I said a mass production one way or the other, but mainly for me but just if somebody should want one for whatever reason then stop… So if at all times 5-10 people for whom I then make some on request and then just send them to them. Do you understand?
As soon as you pass it on or publish it, there will be trouble. There are chargeable warnings and cease and desist statements. Others have already received it when they used a catalog image in their used sales advertisement. Google Mal trademark law abuse
Wow, that's really interesting! Answers the question perfectly, thank you very much!
