Minecraft advanced world settings?

Earlier (1.8 or so) Minecraft had advanced world settings. Where, for example, one could stop the occurrence of coal and iron etc. With the latest version, I could no longer find this setting. Still, is there a relatively easy way to get that back?

As far as I know they no longer exist. But with the program WorldPainter you can create fully configured maps

No. That was removed.

But should come back sometime.
