Minecraft world no longer playable due to too many chickens?

I made a small mistake i created too many chickens with a command block and now the world is not working properly i can't use anything and can't use / kill unfortunately i have no backups of the world

generally the command would be to remove all chickens

/ kill @e [type = chicken]

Yes the whole world hangs you can't do anything I can't even delete things from the inventory. Can't you change that in the game files so remove the chickens?
