Switch Mojang account for child?

I opened a Mojang account many years ago to let my little son play minecraft under supervision. In my opinion, there were no special child accounts yet (I'm not an IT person). Now he understandably wants to become independent. Is there any way to transfer his worlds etc. To a child's account or to transfer the entire account to himself (I definitely don't need it)? When it comes to the FAQs, I'm not really smart and I can't find a telephone hotline either.

I've never heard of a child account. There's only one age requirement and that you can play Minecraft from 6 years of age, but nothing more.

If it is your son then give him the access data and is good. Nobody will ask who will ultimately use the account as long as the username, email address and password and the security questions are correct.

It can change its e-mail address and user name independently in the account. That's his account.

Just be careful that your offspring does not pass the new data on to unauthorized persons, then the account can be gone very quickly.

Thank you. In order to buy the game, I had deposited my details for the payment information - he had neither a credit card nor an email and was only allowed to play under supervision. The access data, also changing the mail etc, is no problem. Only if we have to change Mojang under Microsoft at some point, I fear problems, since everyone is registered there as a family. If the Mojang account is then migrated to the family account and then suddenly he is without his worlds and other data, he would probably be pretty angry with me. The support has unfortunately not responded to my request via the contact form in the last 2 weeks.

Unfortunately, I don't know how it works with Microsoft. To avoid problems, I would wait and let him play with your data. He can still change the username if he wants. The e-mail can also be changed, it is only required for logging in and is adopted during the migration.

His worlds are stored on the PC and independent of the account, unless he has kaifted a realm or something. I don't know how it works either.

Local data is never lost. The migration is all about the username, email and password and what games have been bought. These have to be added later in the Microsoft account. There's an FAQ on how it works, but also instructions from Mojang when the time comes.

You won't get an answer from the support either, because everything you need to know is in the FAQ's. Find it at support or help.
