How do I log in to xbox Live?

I would like to sign up with my xbox live account on minecraft pe but it will not work if I go to the main menu on the left, the background turns green and I can choose with which Microsoft account I do not want to log in it does not work and I should try it on xbox.com and the link to it works knows how to do that
