I don't have enough money to get a somewhat more expensive laptop (no more than 250). Can someone tell me whether this laptop is sufficient for minecraft and school or if I lack another one that meets my requirements for the given price?

Cheap is usually the same age and / or China goods. I would say that there are newer PCs on Ebay for the same price.
