Do the turtles in Minecraft hatch out of their eggs alone or do I have to build / build something for them?

I've been more concerned with turtles in Minecraft and have a question. If I want the turtle hatching out of the egg, I just have to drop the egg on the beach and then hatch it by itself at some point or do I have to build a small house in which the egg is lit?

Simply put on sand, after a long time they slip. It does not need anything else. Water should be nearby so the little ones can swim, but I'm not even sure if that's necessary. It does not need light or anything. It takes a felt eternity.
