Cpu clock is too little because of that little fps?

I have a problem that I really have to handle today. So my CPU (AMD Athlon ii X4 640 3ghz) is somehow clocked to 805mhz that is at least in hwmonitor CPU z coretemp and aida64 extreme in Task Manager, it is displayed as 3ghz. It also stays that way when I play games or run benchmarks so it's stuck. Have therefore tested cinebench R15 and 70cb normally would have the CPU as in the videos according to YouTube 260-267cb reach. Games are not going well either. Minecraft 8fps just like cs go. In the BIOS it is set to 3.00ghz x15. In Windows 805mhz x4. During the torture test (2 hours run) in prime95 it still stays at 805mhz and the CPU's motherboard and hard drive get up to 40-45 degrees hot so CPU 41grad just like mainboard and hard drive 45grad. At least in the BIOS I turned off C1e support for the first time and the AMD cool n quiet function. But it did not work. And I've rewired Windows several times, but without success, I've also opted for maximum power with minimum power and min-max 100%. The only thing that puzzles me is that most of the PC went off alone because of overheating. As soon as I turn on the PC the PC starts up and gets much louder and games are much better. So Minecraft and cs Go 80-100fps and that's the right performance the processor would have to deliver. Since I cleaned up my PC, it does not work anymore so it stays cool.

So that's quite strange indeed. So your CPU is generally very slow anyway, even at 3 GHz, the computing power is equivalent to an i3 with 1.2 GHz.

Reinstall Window brings nothing here unfortunately, since the control of the CPU is done by the BIOS. So try 1) a bios update and 2) the bios default settings.

If the PC runs out of games by itself, the CPU gets too hot. Maybe the CPU in games but still on 100%, and then gets too hot and then clocks down; or turns off if it gets too hot.

That's why you should clean the cooler of dust, or buy a new CPU cooler. (which fits not only on AM2 / AM3, but also on socket AM4, then you can continue to use it in the future)

The best solution would be to buy a new CPU, but you need a KIT like Ryzen 1600 + Asus Prime B350+ 16 GB DDR4-3000, for about 400 EUR.

So I guess that the temperature sensor of the CPU outputs wrong values (would be nothing new at AMD) and he is in truth much hotter and throttles.
Take a look at the radiator if it gets really warm. Fals not, sometimes change the thermal grease. Possibly. Also rid the computer of dust (special attention to the CPU cooler).

I have cleaned the calculator and since then fortunately it is not out of fact I actually mentioned it but the suggestion for improvement lasts a while

Na

Why should you buy a new CPU for Minecraft and CS? M.M.n. Wasted money

hy

CPU clock is not that important at all, maybe that's because of the cores. In addition, the AMD Athlon is already quite old. If you want to install a PC for cheap, then look at AMD 7850K information. Enough for games even without graphics card.

Un

So the CPU itself is running at 100% when I play. Since I cleaned up, it does not work anymore but it's still confusing how I get such an incredible fps boost. What I know is that the PC gets louder so it was 5600rpm so it's just jz it's 4400rpm

Mi

Hello Eyman95: If the questioner only plays Minecraft and CS, he does not need a new CPU, so you have of course completely right!

Un

That can't be. I'm sure it is due to low clock in performance and little points in cinebench R15. And after overheating it gets really good with fps boost 80-100fps

Mi

You see then you have had a heat problem. The hotter the CPU gets, the sooner the CPU has to slow down.

Miss the temperature of the CPU in the games. The phenom should be below 60 degrees.

I think the cooler is so bad, it still does not manage to cool properly despite cleaning. 5000rpm is pretty much. You have such a small standard cooler, right?

Look here this: https://www.mindfactory.de/...76867.html I would recommend you as a replacement, which is very good, quiet, suitable for the future, and even really cheap.

hy

Well, I had almost the same CPU (since I had the clock 3.2). For example, I did not have more than 35fps in Witcher 3, but after buying the i5 2500k (also 3.2) everything has gotten a lot better. Even the Witcher runs stably at 60 fps.

Un

No that is not so it is following as soon as I turn on the PC after overheating it gets much louder (5600rpm) and the performance is loose x100 times better. Since I cleaned it up. Fortunately, it does not work anymore and only gets 41 degrees hot during a stress test. And runs at 4400rpm.

Mi

Ahh, so now you only have 41 degrees and 4400rpm, even under full load, for a long time, right? Then your problem is now clearly fixed, that makes me very happy! ))

Un

Yes that's nice and good but the performance is still terrifying z.b in the games, because after the whole thing with the overheating it is also about 100x times better. And when I cleaned up PC, it slows down the performance, but the PC does not work out that way. Already very strange I actually thought that PCs run better when the. Cool instead of hot

Mi

Yes, that's the way it should be. Below I read that possibly the motherboard has voltage problems, that makes sense for me. Which motherboard exactly do you have? And which PSU exactly?

Please think about bios update and default settings, if you have not already done that.

Un

So voltage could be (vlt.) Because it always remains even under full load at 1.05V and BIOS is set to 1.4000V. But then it should also mean that after overheating, the CPU may then run on 1.4000V but something is actually in my opinion impossible. My mainboard is the ga-870a-ud3 power supply is 550w. I do not know brand (but besquiet or what I know sharkoon or something it is definitely not.) BIOS update I have never done in life and have the PC for 5 years. As default settings, I have in the BIOS / optimal defaults selected.

I do not know how BIOS update works, and honestly I do not want to do it for safety.

Ah wanted to mention that I had this problem loosely for 3-5 years so I'm abnormally sure that it is somehow s.Bios but then I must also think about what happens then but after overheating because the performance is much better. It is not overclocked automatically or so and BIOS settings will not be changed automatically

Mi

So you could download the bios update here: https://www.gigabyte.com/...-dl-driver

There you will find under "Support" also a manual, where the procedure for bios update would be explained. Your motherboard is actually quite good quality, power supply has at least 550 watts, which should actually be OK, as long as it is not so bad China low budget.

If you can't solve the problem, would be for you a new purchase (with Ryzen CPU) in question?

Mi

PS: The manual unfortunately does not describe anything about Bios Update, but the Bios update is a .exe file - which you simply double-click.
