How can I activate minecraft for Windows 10 for free?
I officially bought the Java edition of Mojang in 2018 and found out that you can activate minecraft for Windows 10 somehow free of charge via account.Mojang.com. I do not see such an option as it is shown in various tutorials. Is that no longer the case or am I doing something wrong?
Maybe you bought it a few days / months late
If you bought it, get it this way. Then the free version is irrelevant.

I did this by logging into account.mojang.com and then pressing Redeem down on gift cards below. Then I clicked on Minecraft Windows 10 Edition and signed in with my Microsoft account. It was not possible for my sister (she had bought Minecraft a few months ago) when I wanted to do it for her, but I also recently saw in a Minecraft forum that unfortunately this is no longer possible.
Yes it is shown in many tutorials but the problem is there's no Redeem button.
Did you verify your email?
For a while you could unlock the Win10 for free. Went over a link on the MC website… But now that is no longer possible and you have to buy the Win10 version extra… Free is over…

Yes, I have that with my sister, too, because Minecraft Windows 10 Edition can no longer be obtained for free, I think that April 20 is no longer possible. Unfortunately so.
