Copyright? - 1

I've seen a lot of YouTubers who have done a montage about Minecraft, for example, with good clips and such, and they all have music in there that should actually have a million percent copyright on it.

Why are they allowed to use the songs? Actually, you can only use royalty free music on YouTube, right?

Or is that possible if you put the link to the download of the song in the description or something?

Does anyone know?

Lu

You are allowed to play a large part of the songs, but then you can't place advertisements etc.

Co

They often use copyright-free music from publishers like NCS and Trap Nation. In addition, many songs often state in the description whether you can use the song in your videos.

You don't have to care what others do. Your channel, your responsibility.

You never know whether the others have a permit, a license or something similar so that they can do it.

The likelihood is that some won't care.

There's a nice page on the topic: The most common questions about music on Youtube

Just read through and you will know afterwards.

OK thanks

Re

But these are mostly bigger YouTubers, I don't think they don't care if they get a copyright strike or something like that

But I read the article through.

You can use music, no matter what.

However, if you use copyright music, you can't advertise in your videos and thus make no money.

The owner of the song can take your video offline or have it muted, but that rarely happens, so you didn't have to worry.

Re

Don't advertise anyway. So I can just e.g. Download the Hall of Fame and use it in my video? I don't get any money anyway ^^

Re

OK. But how do I know which large part I can use?

Br

You can do it, yes.

Lu

You can look it up somewhere on YT.

Re

OK thanks

With most of the songs you can simply use them in the video, then the income simply goes to the respective artist.

Re

So download it from the internet and I can use it?
