Moin people, I wanted to play Minecraft Java Edition with my friend but he said you have to buy it or use Hamachi. I don't want to pay somehow and if it works with Hamachi, can anyone explain to me how to use it? LG Wolfy.
Aternos is one possibility:
Thank you. How can you use it?
Ok I checked it now.
And is that legal?
This is both legal (why should it be illegal?) And free. The servers need something to start because it is in a queue.
Why would someone offer this legally for free?
The possibilities are more limited than if you host it yourself.
I don't know an exact reason why they do that.
Aternos is free. Just register on the site. There are lots of tutorials there too.
Hamachi works very simply. Just download it and create an account. Click the power-on symbol, go to "Network" and "Create new network". For network ID you enter something, such as "mcspielemitfreunden" or something. You think of something as a password. Your friend also needs to download Hamachi, create an account and activate it, but then "join the existing network". He then has to enter the ID and the password. Now you should see that something new has appeared in the field and your friend's PC is also displayed there.
Next you go to Minecraft, create a new world and click on "Open in Lan" or "Open in Lan". The port you are given is important. E.g. "23344". Your friend must now right click on your PC in Hamachi and "Copy IPv4 address". Then he has to go to Multiplayer> Add Server, and paste the copied IPv4 address from you as IP with Ctrl + V. Followed by a ":" and the port, e.g. "23344". But it must be the one that was issued to you when you pressed "Open in Lan".
Attention: The field in Hamachi only shows the network ID. Since you can't right click> copy IPv4 address. You have to open it and then there's the name of the other PC, usually "DESKTOP-something". Right click must be made.
But it doesn't work.
Very helpful.
What's the problem?
