I would like to download Minecraft Optifine on my laptop. Now I have the problem that when I try to open the file, it shows which app I should open it with, but unfortunately it doesn't work with Firefox or Internet Explorer, and I can read the file just save again, you can help me. I already have Java, but if you try to open the Optifine, an error message comes from Java.LG
You can't open OptiFine. You install it from the OptiFine page and then you can create a new version in the Minecraft Launcher (the small plus at the top left) and then select OptiFine
You need Java, then you can use it to open and install it. After that, it will be displayed as a version in the Minecraft Launcher.
If you have the Optifine JAR installer, you can simply open it via JRE. On my PC, I just had to double-click the JAR installer, which opened a security dialog.
Then I had to confirm this and click on install. All necessary files are automatically copied into the .minecraft / versions directory. A profile was even created which I could then choose.
You need java.
Download Java here: https://javadl.oracle.com/webapps/download/AutoDL?BundleId=244068_89d678f2be164786b292527658ca1605
(Source: https://www.java.com/...manual.jsp. Windows Offline (64-Bit))
After you have downloaded it: Install with a double click.
Then you can install Optifine by right-clicking on the Optifine file, then selecting Open with, and then clicking Java.
You don't have to open anything.
You download the .JAR file from it.
You put the .JAR file in your "mods" folder:
(* Windows key * + R → Enter this:% appdata% //. Minecraft)
Then you just go to "mods" or create "mods".
You put the JAR file in there and open the launcher and select the version. Finished.
Of course you can open that up.
If you already do it in the mods folder, then you need Forge. However, this will output the same error with the FS.
Optifine has nothing to do with Forge.
OptiFine has no place in the mods folder if you just want to play with it.
