Is it possible that my LAN cable, which I have on my computer, only gives me 5ghz network?
I need this because I want to play with my Oculus Quest with ALVR Minecraft.
LAN cable offers 10Mbit / 100Mbit or 1000Mbit… This has nothing to do with 2.4GHz or 5GHz, because that is the radio frequency for the Wi-Fi carrier signal…
But how can I set my PC to receive 5 GHz?
If you have a Wi-Fi card that supports 5GHz and a router that provides 5GHz Wi-Fi, you can use it. But must also be activated in the router. It is best to use a different SSID for the 5GHz Wi-Fi, then you can keep that apart. If you use LAN cables, don't worry about the 5GHz. This is only important for Wi-Fi.
Not at all over LAN. The cables go up to 2GHz and these are special Cat 8 cables.
If you really have a LAN cable to the router, this is usually better than WLAN. No matter whether the latter has 2.4GHz or 5GHz.
Not at all. LAN cable and WLAN wireless are 2 completely different things. You can't push a 5ghz Wi-Fi signal through a cable. That's why you have a cable
OK
OK thanks
5GHz has nothing to do with your LAN cable. Only the WLAN uses 5 GHz or 2.4 GHZ.
LAN is via cable and WLAN is without cable. Which of these are you currently using?
I apologize for the unintentional down vote, your information is of course completely correct!
LAN
Then you don't need to worry about the 5GHz WLAN. LAN is always better.
