Minecraft only recognizes 60Hz?

Hi! I bought a new Alienware 240Hz monitor and set it to 240Hz. It worked on my desktop and I have more ghost frames (thanks to the beautiful TNS panel). Now I was in Minecraft and only 60Hz are recognized, or does it feel that way and from the ghost frames too.

Why is that and how can I change it?
