I've been playing minecraft with a buddy for a few days, and his and my nether portals lead to the same place in the nether, but why?! We're both on the other side of the map
Nether portals must be at least 8 chunks apart in the upper world so that they do not come to the same place in the Nether. This is because if you run 1 block in the nether you actually run 8 blocks in the overworld. And since only one nether portal can spawn in each chunk in Minecraft, these have to be 8 chunks apart in the normal world
