How do you redeem a Minecraft Gift Card?

I bought my friend a MInecraft gift card at MediaMarkt 9 days ago, if he goes to the Mojang page as described on the card and wants to redeem the code, he always ends up on an error page that tells him that this page is not there's more if he wants to enter the code on the Minecraft page but the code is too short because we only have 10 of actually 25 characters on the map, does anyone know what you can do there?

You just have to enter the code. Even if it's only 10 characters.
That works or has also worked for me.
