Do you think that Minecraft is extinct or not?
Are still people from my circle of friends who like to play that. In addition, many Minecraft servers are still heavily visited… So no I do not believe that Minecraft will die out in the next 1-2 years… Although extinction probably can't say either, because there will probably always be people who will play it.
Minecraft was never interesting for me as a multiplayer, at most with my closest friends. This has not changed just because there are newer games.
I also play Stalker, the original XCOM, Halflife and the original DOOM. Certain games never go out of style, because they are good games.
One of the best selling games ever with over 150 million sales.
Still +90 million active players a month, not even Fortnite.
The hype is certainly toned down. But that did not hurt the game. It lives and grows. I still see completely new players on servers that have bought it first.
Server with tens of thousands of players online at the same time. No idea how to speak of extinct.
Through the active community, Minecraft will never die out.
Even if Microsoft drives it completely against the wall, the data is preserved. The community remains.
By the way, there's the question here every few weeks. Slowly it gets boring.
