Share localhost minecraft server without security gaps?

I want to share my server (localhost) with other people, without hamachi and without large or no security gaps.
Does anyone know about it, please contact us!

There's not much to be done apart from the port sharing on the router, which is necessary anyway. A player whitelist is of course highly recommended for private servers. An IP whitelist would also be possible, but is less practical with dynamic IPs from private connections.

The whole thing is of course much safer if you configure your own VPN server accordingly and only let the players in via it, but you need relatively extensive knowledge and at best a small external server.

Thanks, is that possible without additional costs?

St

As long as your router supports port sharing, yes.

su

Should he, but how unsafe is that then?

St

It depends on what you consider unsafe. You can then only establish a connection to the specific port on the device. So unless something else is running on it by chance (almost never), you only have access to Minecraft. If Minecraft has a corresponding security hole with which you can get system access without being on the whitelist, then that's a problem, otherwise not.

I hope that the server should only be on when you move together? If the server is to be continuously online, it is better to rent a server, as the electricity costs exceed the costs of a rented V-Server. In addition, you have better pings, latencies and uptime with a rented server.

To your problem. As described, you would have to release the ports on the router and possibly install a dyndns service so that you can always reach your server via a domain. Otherwise, you can give your friends the new IP from your router every day.

The pc is my normal gaming pc that I also use like that, only I have a bungee cord proxy.

su

The server would only be on when I gamble, that's right. But aren't there any risks if I now e.g. Open the port for the bungee cord proxy? I would run it on my main computer (preferably without a whitelist)

The rotuer forwards all inquiries to your computer. Only Bangeecord will run on this port. You have to make sure of that.

then it really doesn't work out anything;) Otherwise, hosters shouldn't rent Bangeecord if there was a security gap in the software
