I would like to know if you can store a Minecraft server on a NAS, so the MC server is always online?

I was looking for a solution that my server is always online. And no, I do not want to host him (not even for free). So far, the server is on my PC but I always have to start it so that my friends can join. Would that go on a NAS or does not it make sense? Thanks for all the answers! And sorry that the question is so long😂

If your NAS has enough RAM and is running an OS that is compatible with the MC server software, then you should be able to install the server on a NAS. But that is usually not a good idea, as they are not designed for such a load.

Ka

Take a Raspberry Pi.

Pl

What else would you have for suggestions on how my server can always be on?

Pl

I had before ;-)

Sh

Run your PC, rent a server, buy a server.

Pl

But does that work and if so, how? I have already read in the I-net how to set up the nas, but how can I get the server on it? Over the Web interface then simply push the server folder on the nas?

Sh

For example Install via ssh. Or open a shell directly on the NAS.

Pl

Sorry, I do not know that well in the field: what is a shell?

Sh

The command console of an operating system.

Pl

OK

That depends on which NAS you use, Synology is that, for example, with many models, if you use one with enough memory.

With configurations with little RAM you quickly get performance problems, as with the Raspberry Pi. The best solution is and remains to rent a real server.

Re

You could actually do it with a good Raspberry Pi but I would not recommend that or you take an old calculator but that's very power intense
