I want to make an online server but many say that it is insecure when you release port how can you make it even more secure? And how does GommeHd do that?

To

Um what is a V-server?

pr

Virtual server,
This is a "virtual computer" on a server, no no Windows but a Debian / Linux operating system. Then you install the things you need. Of course, not just a Minecraft server, but you can also install Ts3 servers or web servers. If you only want to host a Minecraft server and nothing else is enough, even if you host an MC server on https://minehub.de/, for example. But my hosts no server network on it. So a BungeSystem.

But you have to find out how something works, because you can't get a professional server network out of your sleeve and in any case you also need help.

Of course, a spigot server is enough at the beginning, and I recommend that to you too. You can do a lot with it and play around a lot and also open a cool little server. So start with it first if you need help write me ^^

And you host a bungeSystem on a V-Server and you need a server (hardware) or you rent the so-called V-Server but it has to be somewhere

pr

You have to imagine it like this:
For example, you rent 100GB of memory on a large computer.
Your own virtual computer then runs on it, on which you can do everything, e.g. Different MC servers & web servers & Ts3 servers. A root server, on the other hand, is a separate server, which means that you do not rent a bit of storage space but the whole bones and depending on the performance, this is differently expensive!

But my recommendation is, if you are just starting out, get a cheap Minecraft server, you will learn a lot and you can do a lot on it, only if it gets much bigger you should change, but otherwise a normal MC is enough sever ^^

Ok I'll take a look at thank you.

To

So I'm not buying a server (hardware) right?

and when do you switch to your own minecraft (hardware) server?

pr

For now, you shouldn't buy a server.
You will never achieve this maximum performance. A small V-server is enough, which is far too much. You switch to something like this if you notice that you now want to switch to a server network or need more resources

Still the recommendation for maybe 20 euro a year to buy a small Spigot Server and play around a bit!

Because setting up something brings only problems and hours of work with it, you already have no more desire, even though you haven't started at all, and then setting up the server is something else,

Which version should the server be?

To

For 1.12.2 because most mods are there because I want to do a troll's server and already have the mods, only the server is missing

pr

With mods you need even more power, but unfortunately I'm not familiar with that, e.g. How to create a mod server and such.
