I bought and downloaded Minecraft Windows 10 starter collection for the PC from the Internet, but now I have the problem that there's still a Minecraft Java Edition and my friends only have this version of Minecraft. Due to my version, I can't access certain servers, for example from gommehd.net, and I can't connect to friends because they have the other version.
Do you know what I can do or do I absolutely have to buy the Java Edition, because with my Windows Edition there's 'included Java edition' below, maybe I can switch to it somehow?
Thanks in advance, I would be very happy about help: ')
Oh there are two versions? Thanks for the warning.
Do you have two exe files? Win 10 and Java? Or there are two download options. Have you ever tried to play together?
Do you know what I can do there
Nothing
or do I have to buy the Java Edition?
yes, since the versions are not compatible with each other
because with my Windows Edition there's 'included Java edition' below, can I somehow switch to this?
are you sure? Where did you buy it
If you bought the Windows 10 Edition directly from minecraft.net, you can unfortunately no longer switch to Java Edition, unfortunately you only get the Windows 10 Edition with the purchase of the Java Edition.
I don't know why the developers did it that way, but well…
So I have to look up quickly, but on Microsoft you could just choose the more expensive version Minecraft Windows 10 starter collection or Minecraft Java Edition and I bought Minecraft win10 and there's also a button for downloading and with this edition I can apparently only play with friends who have Minecraft on their cell phones, because this edition is apparently only compatible with cell phone versions (?) as far as I could still research jz
But good to know.
Okay thanks in any case but then the question arises why this Windows 10 Edition was more expensive than the normal Java Edition (okay wsl is then because a starter pack was included.) And I bought this version on a Microsoft site
Can I add pictures here to show that?
Oh looked at the page again, read too quickly instead of including it said excluding. Hmm, it was just going stupid, but thanks
So, unfortunately you have to buy the official Java Edition again on minecraft.net, because only the Windows 10 Edition is sold on Microsoft sites, since Mojang was bought by Microsoft. There should also be a key code for Windows 10 Edition, which you already have…
Yes, it was stupid
The Java Edition is not compatible with the W 10 Ed. Technically, this is based on the Bedrock Edition.
