This works with / Fill x1 y1 z1 x2 y2 z2 air

You have to choose 2 positions in F3 mode. Then you can hollow out a room.

You enter the following:

/ fill x1 y1 z1 x2 y2 z2 minecraft: air

For xyz, the coordinates of two corners are entered accordingly.

So once "bottom right" and once "top left".
