Do you need a Microsoft account if you buy Minecraft as a disc?

I decided today to try out the "legendary" Minecraft. There are only problems with my Microsoft account, which is why I can't redeem any code… (It would have been too easy.) So my question is: Do you need a Microsoft account? If you buy Minecraft as a disc?

The CD version is the story mode, which has nothing to do with Minecraft or at most the Windwos 10 Store version which is not good.

For the original of http://www.minecraft.net you do not need a Microsoft account.

I'm new to play, you definitely need an account, do not know how it is now, but actually it runs on Mojang, but I have MC since 2011.
