I think I know what you mean. You can try to create a new world in 1.15 and then copy the datapacks folder into your 1.8 world in the saves folder under 1.15 world. But before you do that, you'd better copy the datapacks folder from 1.8 World somewhere so that it's backed up in case something goes wrong!
