Change Minecraft shield color?

Can you make a different color for some shields instead of wood? If yes how?

You can change the textures with resource packs

I think with texture packs you can change textures and with resource packs the resources

You have to press Options, Texturepack and finally Open Folder in Minecraft's main menu. You can slide texture packs into the folder that should now open, which you can download from the Internet and then use.
