Xbox 360 controller but not compatible with Android?

I have a little problem. I recently read that you can connect an Xbox 360 controller to an Android phone. I have everything I need, and if I open a game now, the controller is Compatible (In my case Minecraft) flashes the logo only endless, or flashes once, lights up a second, and nothing happens. Can someone help me there maybe?

My devices: Huawei P20, USB OTG (On The Go) cable and an Xbox 360 controller from @PLAY

If you have an old 360 controller you need extra software and cables for it.
