Save Minecraft Worlds?

I want to reinstall Minecraft Pocket Edition because I can't log in and there are no updates. I know there are two ways to save. The first is "external" and the other is "application". Which should I choose so that the worlds are saved after uninstalling and reinstalling?

Externally, but before uninstalling you have to copy the worlds out of the mc folder in the memory so that they remain intact
