Development environment for aspiring system integrator?

Hi, I was just wondering which development environment you might recommend. Although I have tried a little java (for minecraft XD) with eclipse but I would like to know if there are not other probably better synonymous? ^^

As a system integrator almost a notepad ++ or visual studio code is enough
