AMD graphics cards are not so well optimized for Minecraft, so I wanted to ask what the performance of the RX 5700 XT looks like in Minecraft Modpacks? Unfortunately, my RX580 is not that good…
If your cpu is not good then Minecraft is very cpu-heavy.
With modpacks, the graphics card is usually not the bottleneck.
Modpacks need a lot of RAM and possibly a lot of cpu power (unfortunately not more than 1-2 cores).
A graphics card upgrade would not improve much.
The problem is not the optimization for a particular game, but a general problem of the Radeon driver, which means that in some straight older games that do not scale with many cores, you run faster into CPU limit than with an nVidia. Of course, a lame CPU makes it worse.
I once had AMD FX (extremely lame CPU) and with my R9 390X that was so bad that I had more FPS in Minecraft with a GT 530.
A CPU with decent single-core performance compensates for the problem, of course, but it does not turn it off completely.
tl; dr: If you already have problems with the RX 580, it's not really better with a 5700 XT. If you are particularly into the modpacks, I would rather look around the green camp.
