Minecraft - how to play multiplayer without being on the same Wi-Fi?

I would like to play Minecraft together with a friend in survival mode. We live far apart so we're not in the same Wi-Fi. We both have the Java version and play at 1.14.

Of course, I have already googled and watched a few tutorials. But it seems to me that you have to have a computer science degree, just to be able to play together!

Can someone explain that to me stupid, or who knows a simple tutorial? Which of course is not that old?

You need a server. I do not recommend any of you to let it run on your PC, because programs like Hamachii deface the operating system.

Go on nitrado .net and get a game server and for the game. Then you upload your Minecraft world there and play together. For 2 players and the minimum requirements, the costs of no 5 euro a month.

If any of you at home is a network administrator, or if you can please them, then one of you, TCP on port 25565, can host the server locally, and you can simply join if you enter the correct IPv4 address (as my name is. De)

If this is not possible, you will need to either hire a third-party to host, or set up a virtual LAN, e.g. With Hamachi / Tunngle, which is easier than it sounds.

The one of you who has the better hardware, an extra computer, and / or a high upload rate should take over hosting.

Then you'll have to rent a Minecraft server. I can recommend you MC-Host24. Really good server for a small price. Support is great, too.

(…) and you can just join if you enter the right IPv4 address (likemyme.com)

Provided he has a public IP address. Due to the lack of IPv4 addresses, many IPv6 addresses are simply tunneled into DS-Light.

Meaning, depending on the provider, a public address must be requested and depending on the provider that also costs something.

The easiest thing for you will be, you rent a server…

Nitrado is a good and fair supplier and specializes in Minecraft. These are not the cheapest, but you have a great support…

For 4 slots a month, you pay 4 euro there…

If you had a bit of network experience, you could host such a server from home as well, but without really knowing it, that will not really matter…

Do not let anyone persuade you to use Hamachi, because that's what only those who have no plan of hosting need…

If you want, I can guide you to create a server yourself or upload your world to Nitrado - but I only have time at night…

A miracle that IPv4 has lasted so long.
