I have the problem that Minecraft does not start on the old thing. It's not bad now as I'm getting a new laptop the next few days, but at least it would be nice to try. I just want to give it a try, because it means the game runs on almost every box.
So: I start Minecraft, then comes this typical error message: "The driver does not appear to support OpenGL". On the Internet, I find synonymous not great help… It should probably be because of the fact that the graphics driver is outdated or the Java version is too old, but everything is up to date. And a proper graphics driver brings me at the thing 0. ( I have "Java 8 Update 221 (64-bit) and for something else Java SE Development Kit 8 Update 212 (64-bit)
Hardware (yes, laugh at me quietly) and the thing is actually designed for Windows Vista, but Windows 10 is also xD):
CPU: Intel Pentium (although on the laptop "Celeron" stands) @ 1.66Ghz Merom 65nm Techlogogy
RAM: 4GB DDR2
GPU: Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Family Chipset
And 250GB HDD😹
Just read what your error message says:
"The driver does not appear to support OpenGL"
So it either helps to update all drivers or it does not work on the hardware at all.
No SSD?
and the laptop is too old. At the time laptops were not really good, and today they are not really great, you are better off with an office pc
Then the laptop is really too old… 😹OK does not matter, the new make better.
An SSD is only available in the new laptop😆
You got a clear error message. If old Lappi is not OpenGL capable, Minecraft can't run. If OpenGL is not running, quite a few commands that make the program work can't be implemented.
😆😁
Oke, but that significantly worsens the performance. Nowadays you can find good and cheap office pc's (10-30 Euro) and it looks much better. Maybe a new graphics card, but you have to pay close attention and know what you are doing
In the new PC is a MX130 installed, not the best, but that has not been bought for gambling
And: 8GB DDR4 500GB SSD, i5-8250U 8th Gen.
So that should work "but we did not buy the laptop for Minecraft, do not be surprised"
