Dear Girlfriend community,
I'm currently thinking about what to upgrade next.
Here are the components:
Ryzen 5 1600X (OC: ~ 4GHz)
Vega 56 PowerColor RedDragon (clock: ~ 1600Mhz, memory: 940Mhz)
16GB 3000Mhz Patriot Viper LED (OC: 3200Mhz)
BeQuiet PurePower 11 600 watts
MSI B350M Pro-VDH
The rest (like the case) are irrelevant for now.
So I'm considering buying the Ryzen 5 3600 and overclocking it. I also have an AIO, so I'm not worried about the cooling. I just wonder if I should buy a new mainboard right away or if the B350 board is still enough. I mainly play Minecraft and also want to record and occasionally stream in FHD 60FPS. As far as I have now noticed, the Ryzen 5 1600X bottlenecked the Vega 56 too.
So what do you think? Should I buy a new mainboard right away or even wait for the next generation? Have already considered buying an I5 10400F, so I would need a new motherboard anyway.
So, the 1600X at 4GHz should not be the Vega 56 Bottlenecken, unless you are a high FPS gamer and want 400 FPS in CSGO.
Then you're at the wrong place at AMD anyway!
You can of course simply put the R5 3600 with BIOS update on your mainboard, I also use an R5 3600 on B350.
Generally I would upgrade the GPU first! My RTX 2080S is still an enormous bottleneck for my CPU. I play in WQHD, but at 144 FPS!
Therefore, you should be able to keep the mainboard.
In addition, an i5 9400F makes no sense, since the 10400F is hardly more expensive! If you want to switch to Intel, it makes more sense.

just test it yourself with the MSI Afterburner!
For Minecraft at 60 fps, your current setup is easily enough - even with streaming.
The most sensible thing is I just put the 3600 on it… Brings about 15-20% + more performance and if you count the sale of your 1600 it will only cost you about 80 euro in the end
I wrote I5 10400F. But thanks for the information. The bad single-core performance of the Ryzen 5 1600X bothers me. Since Minecraft only runs on 1 or with Optifine 2 cores.
Hops, I've read: DD
Minecraft should still run well, and you don't really notice the 20% performance anyway
I think I'll leave the components first and then buy a completely new PC later. I think that's worth it the most.
Have also considered buying an I5 10400F
And what should that bring you compared to a Ryzen 5 3600, apart from significantly less money in your pocket for maybe 5% more power? You also have to buy a Z490 motherboard, otherwise you won't be able to run your RAM with XMP and certainly not overclock, you'll probably be chasing DDR4-2133 and then the i5 won't do you any good.
The Ryzen 5 3600 makes the most sense. If in doubt, you can even take the XT. If you have FPS problems in Minecraft, I'd even rather replace it and the Vega 56 with an nVidia, that would probably bring you the most.
