I have done so many times…
Rebuild reputation with Villagers by saving them from raids on Illagers.
You can trigger the raids by finding and attacking an outpost and finally going to a village.
Well you beat / killed a villager / golem
You have to buy things even if they are priced with Apple

Well on my island, there's not that and my village is built itself (I brought the villager with minecarts over but I spawne a few hope that works
The villagers must be satisfied and then communicate it. That Trade with different villagers and have them exchange gossip
