Where is the difference between laptops with 2 hard drives (1 HDD + 1SSD) vs 1 hard drive (SSD)?

Are there any rules of thumb? What to pay attention to? I'm average in terms of my data count. Need the laptop for my office and minecraft! What do you think? No matter?

le

You should stick to your budget. SSD's are better for laptops but also more expensive…

You should ask yourself 2 questions: How much money do I want to spend and how much data do I want to save? My 10TB do not go on a cheap laptop, so I'm not synonymous because all data on top of my NAS on it.

You should just look how much memory is used on your older devices (PC / laptop). I would say 250GB are already at least recommended.

For Office and Minecraft you get very good equipment. Often a m.2 SSD is installed and there's even room for another SATA hard drive.

Ah, Thanks! And what if both laptops (which I should have mentioned as well) cost the same amount?

Fu

So you would prefer the variant ssd single of the variant ssd plus hdd?

le

Then maybe I would take the SSD, if the same laptop with a different configuration, you can later install a second synonymous HDD or SSD.

As I said, depends on how much memory you need. Personally, I like to photograph hobbymäßig, so I come to a large HDD not around. But if, for example, you can handle 150GB of space, you can of course use a laptop with a single SSD. And most of them can be retrofitted with another hard drive as written.

le

Depending on how much memory you need… But an SSD is clearly better in the laptop. (less power, more robust, lighter, quieter and of course faster but more expensive)

Nice!

That's not what it's all about. It's about SSD and SSD + HDD. And if you need a lot of memory there's a lot cheaper with a combination of both. In addition, you then do not waste the system disk unnecessarily.

le

I agree with you, but you can also do partitions. But HDD's are just not that great in laptops. I have one here with only one disk, namely an HDD (WIN10) and it takes a long time to boot. But your thought makes perfect sense. But I would always prefer SSDs in the laptop for fall reasons.

am

That's right, with the partitions is a good thing, but understand the fewest users.

An SSD is definitely a must for the operating system these days, but I also consider a 2nd HDD to be useful as a data grave. Sure, a fall can take the damage, but my 8 year old laptop has never fallen down even though it was already everywhere…

le

My laptops all have only one slot and have not fallen down yet. But one should not close to others:-) But jepp, I also have several data graves on my desktop. Especially useful if it's a lot of data. But he can even if we just retrofit later. Instead of a tiny SSD and a mediocre SSD. But I think we're doing a bit of a circle here, but I wish you a nice evening!

am

Can I agree. Likewise!
