I'll tell you how to install mods:

1. You start the "normal" Mc version in which you want to play (for example 1.7.10)

2. You download https://files.minecraftforge.net/....7.10.html (installer) (here in the example for 1.7.10)

3. You start the Forge installer and install Forge

4. You start the FORGE version of Minecraft, finish it again

5. Now press the Windows key and R at the same time, enter% appdata% /. Minecraft / mods

6. Now just download the mods to install and slide into the folder

Make sure the mods are made for the Minecraft version you want to play as well!

Also, you always have to select the Forge version to play with mods!
