Port forwarding dangerous?

I'm currently making a Minecraft server, but for this I have to release my (router forwarting) and the port or somehow. I still remember whether all players log on to my internet because internet is slow anyway, or even worse get the password because all the data is on it.

So is that dangerous?

Open ports are potentially dangerous, yes - it depends on what is listening on the port, how the software is secured and whether the server itself has been properly secured. A big help is the use of an unusual port.

Only for a Minecraft server that is not dangerous - I have over 20 open ports with me and I live quite well with it, I also have fixed ipv6 addresses and no attack yet…

Your internet will not slow down as if you were playing online somewhere… With a VPN program like Hamachi, it would be different, so that anyone who wanted to connect to your server would connect directly to your network and all of their traffic would be handle over you (your router) - that would lead to loss of speed… And they are in your internal network…

let a firewall be turned off - after all, I know you.

There are ports that are usually open in the local network anyway. If someone comes into the net, then it is mostly easy;)

I'm an Ubuntu User xD

Then it would be good if you took care of a firewall. With Ubuntu there's no active firewall in the basic installation…
