I recently created a Minecraft server. In order for people to connect to my server too, I obviously need to open a port. This goes via my network IPv4 address (not the IP address of the router that can be seen on the Internet).
If I now open such ports, can this be dangerous with regard to hacker attacks?
In principle, every open port is a risk of being hacked.
In addition, in some cases you have to reconfigure your firewall so that you can even access your server from outside. This in turn increases the chance that you will be hacked.
I would advise you to rent a (game) server from a host. Such servers are MOSTLY better secured than you can get on your own PC.
PS: I'm not a trained IT specialist for system integration or the like!
Every open port is a danger. If you don't know what you're doing, it's all the more dangerous
