Which Minecraft version should I start with?

I don't mean Java or Bedrock, but the version of the game e.g. 1.8.8 or 1.12.1 etc…

I've played Minecraft before, but that was when I was a kid. I haven't played the game for 4 years. So I bought the game. Now I ask myself: is there a version that is beginner-friendly? On YT, many say 1.8.8, but some say 1.13

Short info: There are now these new Nether Uptades etc…, but I would rather be in the old Nethern and the feeling of my childhood. So that's probably everything under 1.9 (OG Minecraft or how it is called)

Don't ask why I ask here on GG at 3:55 am, my sleep schedule is broken.

Th

From 1.9 onwards, the combat system was fundamentally changed, after that there were always other updates such as The Nether, the underwater worlds, etc. I think 1.8.9 or 1.7.10 are probably best if you want it to be like before. I would rather tend to 1.8.9.

My sleep schedule is also over.

Li

Thanks for the answer.

But what a big difference between 1.8.8 and 1.8.9?

Li

Sorry, sometimes my autocorrection goes crazy and the sentences don't sound so German

Th

I don't think there are too big differences anymore, but I would always take the last published version because of bugs etc.

Li

Okey thanks.

Th

Oh, you're used to something completely different from some. As long as you understand it.

The 1.8 versions are relatively classic and still very poorly equipped compared to the new ones. I also stopped once with 1.12, but after a while I created a survival world (or server) and then completely rediscovered the version. That was 1.16.4

Li

I have one more question: what is the combat system 🤔😂

Li

Thank you for your answer.

Li

Well, I don't feel like getting so many new items etc… Then I'd rather stick with 1.8.9 or 1.7.10 :)

di

I would take 1.8.9, which is the best.

Th

So until 1.8. Is that as you know it, so you can strike and block normally with the sword. From 1.9, swords have a swing stroke and axes strike normally. Axes (I don't know if that was the case in 1.9 or a little later) do more damage than swords. You can't attack as often in a row, as hits do much less damage, i.e. You have to wait a moment. You can no longer block with the sword either, for that you need a shield, which I think has been around since 1.10. If you hit a shield with an ax, you can no longer use it for a short time.

Many (I'm one of them) find the old system better, which is why the 1.8 is still a very popular Minecraft version

Li

Oha o.o

Then I prefer to play with the classic versions.

You deserve a star.

Li

Also 👍

Th

Thank you very much. I really like to play the classic versions when it comes to fighting, the latest when I just want to play. Although I have to say that I don't like the slightly modified textures of the new version as much as the old ones.

Li

I watched a lot of videos of the new version. Look very good, but it's not my style, especially this new fighting scheme. Well then, have a nice day 👍

Th

Yes, you too. And have fun playing Minecraft.

Ri

I would play the latest version… It's easy to understand and, I think, has the best design.
