I'm currently playing on Gomme Minecraft in 1.8.9 and when I enter any game mode, it loads far too long so that I can only move 20 seconds later.
It was the same with me.
For me it was because the render distance was too high.
Alternatively it could be that Minecraft has too little RAM available.
No other, it is not because it is 1.8.9, which is somehow buggy
Try a newer version
What kind of PC do you have? Usually it is the render distance. Could also be your internet line.
Tried Schonma with 1.8 or 1.8.8?
