Which CPU and which motherboard should I use?

Basically, my last question was actually the same, but I would like to ask you more about what you can recommend to me.

So as already stated above, I would like to get a new CPU and a new motherboard. Currently I have an Intel Core i7-6700K and I realize that this is now getting old.

I'm not really the big gamer, but if I play it then games like Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA 5, Satisfactory, different simulation and setup games and also Minecraft with big modpacks.

I also often use many applications at once, such as Chrome, TeamSpeak, Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio 2019, Spotify, AnyDesk, Steam, Win SCP, Putty and others.

My graphics card is currently a GTX 1060 6GB from Gigabyte and I own 16GB RAM from GSkill with unfortunately only 2800Mhz. I would like to upgrade the GraKa and the Ram at some point.

So I tend now to the AMD Ryzen 5 3600 and as motherboard to the MSI B450 Tomohawk MAX. However, I do not know if I get even better with a small surcharge or the differences are simply too small. Due to the fact that my Ram only has a clock rate of 2800Mhz, unfortunately I can't use every motherboard. In addition it could be that I would still someday want to get a better CPU and thus perhaps a X470 or even X570 board would be more useful. That would be handy if I get me ne 2 GraKa, because then neither of them must run on PCIe 2.0.

What do you think is worth an extra charge so I can upgrade better later or should that go well with the MSI B450 Tomohawk MAX? And is the Ryzen 5 3600 the right choice for me? Or should I bet more on more cores and threads, since I used many applications?

Do

The clear buy recommendation in all respects is always Ryzen 5 3600 + Tomahawk MAX, but your system would suffer a lot from the compilation, as some RAM potential is broken. Scratch rather a few euro together and buy yourself some more RAM, so 2, preferably 3200Mhz. The RAM prices are currently in the basement anyway

Would, because if I get a second graphics card, one of them does not like, because then they can only run under PCIe 2.0? And does that even plug a 3.0 card into a 2.0 slot?

However, I do not know if I get even better with a small surcharge or the differences are simply too small.

No, there's nothing better so far.

Due to the fact that my Ram only has a clock rate of 2800Mhz, unfortunately I can't use every motherboard.

Yes you can.

How did you get to that?

In addition it could be that I would still someday want to get a better CPU and thus perhaps a X470 or even X570 board would be more useful.

No, it would not be.

Only the boards from 200 euro have really better VRM designs.

And you really do not even need that, if you plan to overclock a Ryzen 9 properly.

Otherwise, the B450 Tomahawk MAX will get along with each of the Ryzen CPUs!

That would be handy if I get me ne 2 GraKa, because then neither of them must run on PCIe 2.0.

A 2nd graphics card is completely pointless.

Even an X570 board has only 20 PCIe lanes for you, it does not change that.

You'll never get twice the performance with a 2nd graphics card, but rather max. 50%.

In addition, only very few applications provide support and in the end, it just brings problems that bring performance!

Among them, micro jerks, unstable drivers and heat problems are often strongly represented.

Instead, it would make much more sense to sell your old card and then buy a new, stronger card!

Thank you for the detailed answer.

That's what I thought with the Ram, because I've just seen that motherboards always specify certain Ram Mhz numbers and I found little support for the 2800Mhz. No idea I've probably just looked funny xD

But that there's such a problem with a 2nd graphics card, I've never actually heard before. Although I have never really dealt with the topic of 2 graphics cards at the same time, but you usually only get here and there with something. After all, many YTers, as far as I know, have several.

But it probably makes more sense. Can I rather get some money out of the 1060 and invest in the new xD
